I have always had an affinity for wood. Being the son of a carpenter, I was surrounded by all sorts of wood creations all my life. I started helping my Dad at a young age, usually on the dumb end of a tape measure or fetching a hammer and I worked my way up from there. I have acquired an appreciation for the textures, grains and overall simplicity/complexity of different types of woods and what they can offer. Taking a piece of exotic wood like black walnut or paduak and envisioning a final product is becoming second nature to me now. Constructing different pieces started a while back as a hobby in the garage. As friends and family started to comment, compliment, and then request their own products, I started to take this more seriously. And so began “Bairdo Designs”. It is my goal to firstly continue to create wood products that I love and enjoy, as well as create new and exciting pieces for others to share. As I started out with cabinets and hutches and now focus more on cutting boards and smaller items. But I am always looking for that new and exciting project to offer to everyone. I try to think outside the conventional box for these products. So, this site will show you where I have been and hopefully inspire your creative juices for new and exciting products.
